Chat with Vinny
Joining its Experimental Series in 2018, Glenfiddich’s ‘Fire and Cane’ is the fourth new expression in this range. It’s a celebration of single malt, first matured in Bourbon casks, then finished in South American rum barrels to add toffee richness.
Tasting notes
Oak, toffee and campfire smoke, green fruit and baked apple
Aroma
Soft peat and smoke leading to toffee, fresh fruit and spice
Glenfiddich means ‘valley of the deer’ in Scots Gaelic, which is why the Glenfiddich logo is a stag. Glenfiddich’s Experimental Series comprises single malt whiskies that rewrite the rule book, embodying the family philosophy of embracing freedom and possibilities. So while the IPA Experiment was matured in IPA craft beer barrels, and Winter Storm aged in French oak ice wine casks, this innovative dram is a blend of sweet and smoky notes, an effect created by maturing in bourbon barrels (Fire) and then finishing in rum casks (Cane). Master brewer Brian Kinsman says “we don’t do gimmicks”, these whiskies must pass the test of being true and authentic Glenfiddich. We could immediately feel the Glenfiddich resonance. Excellent winter sipping.
