The Story Behind the Bottle
With 61 hectares of vineyard in total (only 27 used for the Grand Vin), Château Laroque is one of Saint-Émilion's larger estates. This takes nothing away from the quality however. That's clear from some of the highest scores ever received for this estate in the stellar 2022 vintage. Owned by the Beaumartin family, it was awarded Grand Cru Classé status in 1996. Merlot is, unsurprisingly, its speciality grape, with a little Cabernet Franc, and their Grand Vin receiving a year in oak. Half of that is new, which means the layers of firm tannins and vanilla oak spice are substantial, and just right for long ageing. Keep for a couple of years at least, ideally longer.
