The Story Behind the Bottle
Villages is a step up from standard Côtes du Rhône and you'll taste the difference in this rich, ripe, well-priced red from the Plan de Dieu. This area in the southern Rhône is strewn with the same pebbles that you’ll find in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, that help achieve super ripeness by absorbing heat in the day and radiating it at night. It results in some of the most attractive, warm-fruited wines you’re likely to find anywhere. This red is from a small estate that’s been in the Martin family for over a century. Julien Martin bought the original five hectares of vines and his son Jules expanded the property and built the winery. Today great grandsons David and Eric are in charge and, from a great vintage, made this heart-warming red.
