The Story Behind the Bottle
In 1825 cobbler Pierre Faiveley started a wine merchant business in Nuits-Saint-Georges. So began one of the most famous houses in Burgundy. Through seven generations vineyards have been acquired, and just in 2013 they were delighted to gain 20 more hectares in this hallowed appellation. A rare opportunity. Erwan Faiveley took over from his father in 2005 and he’s been assisted by his sister, Eve, since 2014 (she’s the first daughter for seven generations!). Erwan set about fine tuning the style, to make the wines more elegant and defined, while still retaining their cellaring potential. Using Pinot Noir hand picked from vines planted since 1945, this is a sumptuous Gevrey, aged for 14 months in part new French oak. Decant early or cellar.
