Gevrey Chambertin is one of the star appellations of the Côte de Nuits, highly regarded for its intense, elegant, potent Pinot Noir. Style varies from producer to producer, but we very much recommend the wines of this charming family estate. Benoît Stehly took over from his uncle – Georges, grandson of the founder – in 2002 and under his steady hands (stained reassuringly purple all year round) the estate’s wines have gone from strength to strength. Benoît’s Gevrey is crafted from fruit harvested by hand from 2.2 hectares of south facing vineyards. After vinification, the wine was aged in oak for 18 months and will reward further cellaring. Decant before serving with beef, lamb or game.
