In the words of wine expert Andrew Jefford, Chablis is “quite unlike any other wine on earth”, a claim exemplified by this fabulous 93-point Premier Cru from the great Domaine Long-Depaquit. An expressive white with ripeness and a core of minerality.

Domaine Long-Depaquit is a historic property, family-owned since 1791 and bought in 1967 by one of the most impressive houses in Burgundy, Maison Albert Bichot (although the domaine is still autonomously run). Wine Advocate rated the cellar as one of the best producers in the appellation. Les Vaucopins is a high-end Premier Cru. The vineyard is on the right bank of the Serein River, 3 kilometres east of Chablis. Its terroir has a striking resemblance to the Grand Crus: southern exposure and lots of Kimmeridgian soil outcrops. The grapes grow in warmer than average conditions, giving the wine aromas of ripe apricot and quince, alongside nuances of oak and an expressive minerality. Open early, decant and serve cool with fine seafood.
