The Story Behind the Bottle
Joseph Drouhin was established 130 years ago and "continues to demonstrate what a class act they have become” (critic Neal Martin). In charge today are Joseph’s four grandchildren, Fréderique, Véronique, Philippe and Laurent. Their portfolio extends from Chablis in the north to Givry in Côte Chalonnaise. Although the output is extensive, quality is nonetheless exceptionally high. Organic and biodynamic viticulture is evidence of their meticulous approach to winemaking. As noted by critic William Kelley, Burgundy’s 2020 reds are “distinguished by their prodigious concentration and vibrant flavours”. Matured in French oak barrels (20% new) for up to 18 months, it’s intense, with a core of red fruit and velvety tannins. Decant early or cellar.
