Albert Bichot is a renowned family négociant dating from 1831. With around 100 hectares of vines, they are one of the bigger players in Burgundy, but with an excellent reputation. As Neal Martin of Wine Advocate wrote, their wines "can really surprise". They are, above all, about finesse and nuance thanks to Albéric Bichot, a former IWC ‘Winemaker of the Year’. Château Gris is a superb Premier Cru from a single, walled vineyard, which takes its name from the grey slate-roofed château that stands at its centre. At 40 years old, the vines are mature and are tended organically, the Pinot Noir below the château, the Chardonnay just above. From an excellent vintage, the wine is beginning to show well. Decant and serve with rib of beef or duck.
