Domaine Confuron-Gindre is a sixth-generation estate boasting 11 hectares scattered across Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée. We say ‘boast’, but they are a modest family, devoted to making fine wines, true to their terroir. Respect for the vineyard is what inspires François Confuron in his winemaking, with only natural additions made to the vineyards, and timing dictated by the lunar calendar. This fine red uses Pinot Noir from three small plots in the Vosne-Romanée commune, but just outside the appellation, with vines up to 80-years-old. This accounts for the gorgeous depth of flavour captured in the wine, guided by a gentle hand in the winemaking. A short time in barrel adds to the richness. Open early or cellar.
