The Story Behind the Bottle
The wines of Albert Bichot are characterised by their elegance, their delicate nuance – think prima ballerina grace and precision footwork. In 2020 quality was superb, despite a vintage of blazing hot and exceedingly dry conditions. It produced "beautiful, and beautifully fresh and vibrant wines" (Allen Meadows, Burghound.com). Les Chabiots lies in the south of Chambolle Premier Cru, next to Les Amoureuses. Its shallow soil and limestone bedrock result in the wonderful elegance, expressive fruit and silkiness of this wine. All of it is matured in oak barrels (40% new) for 14 to 16 months, to retain a fine balance of fruit and oak. Such a charming and seductive wine, ideal with roast chicken. Even better if you can tuck away a few years.
