  • Gold, Lyon International Competition, 2018

The 2017 vintage is one of "overall balance and charm" (critic, Jeb Dunnock), borne out by this Gold medal claret. It's from a small family estate in the Entre Deux Mers. Intensely flavoured and structured, with ample plum, cassis and suave tannins.

For the past 45 years (and three generations) the Charrut family have been working hard to make the most of their 20 hectares in the Entre Deux Mers. Cha^teau Le Pre´ du Moine is their pride and joy. The limestone soils and moderate climate are ideal for producing classic, well structured, fruit laden wines. And in 2017, thanks to their position between the rivers, they escaped the devastating frosts that reduced overall yields in the region by 40%. You'll discover real depth of fruit and staying power in their Gold medal 2017. Deep plum, cassis and black cherry, this wine has lovely richness. Decant an hour or two before serving and preferably decant to allow the wine to open out. Then enjoy with roast meats or a cheesy pasta bake.
