Padthaway

The Brown family were amongst the foremost pioneers of cool climate Padthaway. They started by growing grapes, but now, with a Trophy winning team, make the wines too. This exclusive Shiraz shows all the ripeness and finesse of this premier region.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
When Donald Brown had a vision to plant vines in rural South Australia, his wife Glenda agreed so long as the location was less than 200 miles from Pirie Street in downtown Adelaide. They settled in Padthaway, just within Glenda’s limit, and in 1970 established their first vineyard. Today daughter Susanne and her husband Michael Schreier manage the 120 hectare estate. The winemaking team comprise Nick Walker and David O’Leary – Jimmy Watson Trophy winner and twice ‘Red Winemaker of the Year’. No wonder Decanter named Browns Of Padthaway one of ‘21 Hottest Wineries to Watch’. This wine is made from the original 1970 Shiraz plantings and shows fabulous richness and complexity in its dark berry fruit. Enjoy with lamb, steak or a casserole.
