The Story Behind the Bottle
This is a fabulous anniversary red from Jean-Marc Diffonty's centuries-old, family estate. It lies in Châteauneuf du Pape and its wines have even found favour with the Pope. US critic Robert Parker has much praise too, describing J-M's Châteauneuf as “forceful and powerful”. We have worked with Jean-Marc for over 20 years now and in 2019 he made us a super cuvée to commemorate our 50th anniversary. He held back some wine from 2017, "a vintage of excellent quality” across the Rhône, said Decanter. In this Benedictus super cuvée, Jean-Marc has broken the rules, blending Côtes du Rhône with premium Châteauneuf (hence vin de France), and ageing it for longer in oak for smoothness. Decant and enjoy with a rich, slow cooked hearty stew.
