The Story Behind the Bottle
If you like brisk, bright, berry fresh rosés, get to grips with Portugal’s new wave rosados. This country cultivates a myriad of exciting red varieties which, when picked still young with lots of refreshing bite, make perfect, crisp, berry filled pinks. Amoras is from a single estate 40 km north of Lisbon. Casa Santos Lima has been owned by the same family for four generations, with José Luís Santos Lima Oliveira da Silva now in charge. Winemaker is Diogo Sepúlveda (a bull wrestler in his spare time), who, for this wine, selected Portugal’s prized native grapes, plus a portion of deep, blackcurrant Cabernet from the estate’s well-tended vineyards. Juicy, fresh Amoras is tasty on its own and an ideal drop with seafood, salads and chicken.
