Vin de France

Just like the exceptional wines from this domaine, Ginestières Merlot exceeds expectations for a simple ‘vin de France’. Bursting with juicy plum and wild herb notes, this velvety, good-value gem hints at the lush Merlot fruit of fine Saint-Émilion.

It’s rare to find a French Merlot of such calibre at this price. A portion of this exceptional value can be attributed to its origin in Languedoc Roussillon, dubbed “the most exciting region in France” by The Sunday Times, which consistently offers France’s best-value wines. But credit must also go to ‘Merlot maestro’ Claude Gros, who honed his skills in the iconic region of Saint-Émilion. Among his many triumphs, Merlot-Rich Grand Cru, Château La Fleur Morange, scored 96/100 points from critic Robert Parker. Claude returned to his southern French roots, and Domaine Ginestières at the heart of the Minervois, where he crafts this majestic Merlot at an amazingly down to earth price. Sip this soft red alongside roast chicken or veggie kebabs.
