Los Rosales Chapel Vineyard Chardonnay 2018

Rapel

One of Chile’s oldest estates, Viña La Rosa is renowned in particular for its fine Chardonnay. Pure, bright and fresh, this wine is testament to that and to massive investment in the cellar. Take in its crisp peach, apple and lemon notes – a delight.

This characterful and easy going Chardonnay takes fruit from the cellar’s Cornellana vineyard, which has the historic Ossa family chapel at its centre, hence the wine’s name. The estate lies in Chile’s Rapel Valley, where hot days and cold nights give pure fruit and elegance to wines. Steep slopes and low yields complete the quality credentials. Alongside vines, citrus and avocado groves also flourish. In charge of winemaking is Trophy winning Gonzalo Cárcamo, who in the last decade has established Viña La Rosa among Chile’s top estates. He insists on cool fermenting the grapes to bring out all the juicy fruit, creamy texture and freshness. This white is a delight on its own or with chicken, prawn and vegetable stir-fry, or a tasty salad.
