The Wine
For growers all over Beaujolais, the Pierres Bleues – or blue stones – are “the key to Beaujolais quality” (Wine Enthusiast). Why? Well, without getting too jargony, the Gamay grapes grown here make wines of greater complexity, with deeper shades of gorgeous red fruits and subtle spices. You’d normally only find them in the top Cru vineyards. But not with this inside tip. Sarah, our Buyer, is always on the hunt for bargains. So, when she heard about a special edition ‘Pierres Bleues’ cuve´e being made by Beaujolais legends Vignerons des Pierres Dore´es, she pounced! This limited edition red offers a taste of the best of the best Beaujolais Crus at a very down to earth price. Beautifully floral, it’s always a winner with French charcuterie.
