Wine Events tailored to your needs

Laithwaite’s have been putting on great live events for decades. Lockdown saw us take a new approach, broadcasting regular virtual tastings that were enjoyed by thousands of customers.

Tom Laithwaite

We’re now bringing all that experience together to offer a host of bespoke tasting events. They’re aimed at everyone who enjoys a good glass of wine and a little bit of fun. And you can join us online or in the clean, safe environments of one of our stores. Why not reward a work team or thank customers with a virtual tasting hosted by one of our expert wine educators? Or bring together a small group of friends with an in-store tasting? Perhaps you’d like to connect with family in different locations over a tutored glass or two? Make it happen with a Laithwaite’s Wine Tasting Experience.

Event Presenters

Grant Hedley

Tasting Experiences Presenter

Grant has worked in the wine trade for nearly 25 years, initially as a part time driver for a wine company whilst studying at University. During this time, he found his first wine love, a deep, dark chocolatey Aussie Shiraz! In 2006 he took his WSET level 3 certificate in wine and spirits and followed this in 2009 with the WSET level 4 Diploma. In 2019 he became a WSET educator for levels 1 and 2.

By 2012 he was working for Laithwaite’s at their flagship shop next to Borough Market, a beautiful Victorian railway arch which, handily, had space to offer an events program hosting up to 80 guests at a time. It has been his pleasure to host wine events for British Airways, BBC Good Food and BBC Good Food Magazine, the editors of the Sunday Times and their special guests, countless private and other corporate events, stag dos and hen nights and has even put in half a dozen appearances on QVC!

He is a founding member of The Ministry of Taste, a very special educational and experiential wine experience offered exclusively to Laithwaites Roadshow events and The Vintage Festival for the enjoyment and amusement of their lovely customers.

His favourite subjects currently are ‘English Sparkling Wine’ and ‘Pinot Noir that he can’t afford’ provided he gets to taste them of course!

Grant loves few things more than sharing his love, enthusiasm and understanding of wine with his customers and guests. His favourite memory was standing with a customer at the end of a tasting when the customer, clearly inspired by what he’d heard (!), said: “I don’t know much about wine, but I can taste the sunshine in the glass!”.
