Saint-Chinian-Roquebrun AOC

A rare chance to get this limited edition, fine red with 7 years' age. And in magnum. Roquebrun is one of two standout crus of Saint-Chinian. So good, its top wine matures magnificently for years. Juicy cassis, wild herbs, sweet tannins, freshness.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
It's not often that truly great wines drop into a wine merchant's lap. Stationed in southern France, our buyer, Mark, heard rumour that magnums of the top wine from the great Roquebrun cellar were being sold. That wine is the superb, limited-edition Seigneur d'Aupenac. Every vintage, this small premium village cellar, with its fine schist soils and high, southfacing slopes, holds back a few hundred magnums for use in shows and dinners. With the departure of Alain, their award-winning winemaker, the cellar agreed to sell the back vintages and Mark, without hesitation, said we'd take the lot. Made from finest, low-yielding Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, the 2016 is still fresh, with bright cassis, wild herbs, sweet tannins and spice length.
