The Wine
Hervé Fabre is Bordelais born and bred. However, he wanted to explore winemaking further afield and, in the 1990s, fell in love with Argentina and its old-vine Malbec. He recognised its potential to make some of the best wines in the world and set out to prove it. In fact, he started something of a stampede and some of Bordeaux's grandest names, like Rothschild, Léoville Poyferré and Michel Rolland, have followed him! He established a winery in Mendoza (and now one in Patagonia) and has been planting evermore extreme vineyards. His Gualtallary vines are the highest (1400 metres) and most exciting, cold with very pure sunshine. GGG uses grapes from two vineyards in Gualtallary, handpicked and the wine gently aged in French oak. Decant early.

Despite its 14.5%, this is an elegant, silky red. One to open and decant well in advance
