The Wine
First it was the Casablanca region that showed how brilliant Chilean Sauvignon Blanc could be. Now winemakers are harnessing the benefits of the coastal section of Colchagua. Vineyards cooled by ocean breezes promote real intensity of fruit and mineral elegance. This tongue-tingling Reserva is from Luis Felipe Edwards, a family winery with extensive vineyards, including some daringly close to the sea. Winemaker Nicolas Bizzarri, the first Chilean to graduate from Australia’s famous Roseworthy wine college, insists on grapes being harvested in the early morning, and cooled as soon as they reach the cellar to retain maximum freshness. Showing crisp fruit and stony-freshness, this white is great solo or with seafood, salads or stir fry.
