Château Pichon-Longueville Baron 2018
Pauillac AOC 2ème Grand Cru Classé
Loading...
Great praise for this 2ème Cru Classé Pauillac: "impactful black fruit preserves and exotic spice layers, plush tannins." It was a 5-star vintage for Cabernet, but also Merlot, which fills the palate, plus 18 months in barrel. A giant for the cellar.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

The Wine
Château Pichon-Longueville Baron is one of the most respected properties of Bordeaux's Left Bank, a Deuxième Cru Classé, facing Château Latour. It was founded in 1694, when Therèse Desmezures de Rauzan, daughter of a wealthy and influential wine merchant, married Baron Jacques Pichon de Longueville. The land was part of her dowry. In 1850 it was split in two – Pichon Baron and Pichon Comtesse. The beautiful château dates back to 1851. In 1987 it was purchased by AXA Millesime. Unsurprisingly, with such deep pockets, much investment has been poured into the vineyards and to the cellar. Dense planting in the vineyard, meticulous care, it all adds up to magnificence in the wine. As Wine Enthusiast wrote, "very ageworthy." One for the cellar.
