Founded in 1963, Zuccardi is the most highly awarded winery in Argentina. It’s run today by the second and third generations – José Alberto Zuccardi, given a Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering work, and his son Sebastián, named Decanter’s Top Winemaker of South America. “Zuccardi keeps going from strength to strength with their top-level wines” (Wine Advocate). This is a special Cabernet, the grapes sourced from vineyards in the high altitude La Consulta sub-region of the Uco Valley. Temperatures are cool, so ripening is particularly slow. This results in elegance, depth and lovely aromatics in this red, while ageing in part new, French oak barrels lends real finesse. To enjoy now, open early and decant. It’ll age well too.
