Despite only having four decades of history in Hermitage, the Yann Chave estate is already attracting the praise of world-renowned wine critics. One sip of their superb 100% Syrah Crozes-Hermitage (in handy half-bottle size) and you’ll see why.Rhône expert John Livingstone-Learmouth says Yann Chave are “without doubt one of the most promising and thoughtful growers at Crozes”. The 2016 vintage Crozes-Hermitage are characterised by “bright, defined red fruits and great drinkability”, as Decanter Magazine puts itThe warm vintage means the flavours are very ripe, but wines are still very much a fresh and fruit-forward in style, which is amplified by the fact that this has seen minimal influence from oak. An expressive nose marked by black fruit with a hint of mint when left to decant. The palate is rich and generous, dominated by dark blackcurrant and cassis. Velvety tannins give this wine delicious fullness, with a lovely freshness on the finish. To be enjoyed now or anywhere over the next 5-10 years.
