Woodlands Vineyard was set up by David and Heather Watson in 1973, making it one of the first five to be planted in Margaret River. The couple aimed to create wines that emulated the greats of Bordeaux and, if critical acclaim is anything to go by, they succeeded. In 2010 they received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the industry and every year their wines win top points (a score of 98 last vintage for their flagship red) from critics all over the world. This is their ‘standard’ Cabernet Merlot, though hardly ‘standard’ and itself awarded 94 points by Ray Jordan. He wrote: “I have long been a fan of this modestly priced Cabernet Merlot that consistently over-delivers. This is the very best I have tasted.” A red for rare steak.

"Seamless and velvety smooth palate structure that delivers those gorgeous leafy fruit characters" Ray Jordan
