This characterful, rich, yet brilliant, citrus focused Sauvignon Gris is a collaboration between our own chief winemaker, Haut-Brion trained Jean-Marc Sauboua, and owner of Château Le Coin Ludovic Roussillon. Ludovic's superb, well tended estate lies just over the river from our Castillon cellar Le Chai au Quai, in the Entre Deux Mers. His claret is always a great hit and four years ago we persuaded him to make us a white too, using all estate grown grapes. The soils are quite phenomenal - the limestone helping to produce real concentration in the fruit. About 5% was oak fermented to lend a little extra richness and breadth, as did small amounts of old-vine Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Delicious solo or with white meats or a creamy gratin.
