Warre's is one of the top names in the Douro and its ports some of the finest. This is their beautifully elegant single estate from the high-altitude Cavadinha. 2005 was not widely declared vintage, but made exceptional single quinta wines like this.
Beyond the Label
Generous ripe plum, black pepper, subtle cocoa, tobacco and tea leaf
Rising from the banks of the Pinhão River, Quinta da Cavadinha’s high-altitude, south-east-facing aspect produces fragrant, aromatic wines with great richness and structure. Part of Warre’s flagship range, this vintage port’s complexity, balance and elegance is unrivalled. Warre’s history in the Douro dates back to 1670 and the estate is today in the hands of the highly respected Symington family. Decanter noted for the 2005 vintage, old vines located in high areas would produce the best grapes – and Quinta da Cavadinha has exactly that. Located on the high slopes and with exceptionally old vines, it is Warre's finest quinta. Rich in ripe red fruits, cocoa, rose and tobacco, it has the quality to mature for 25+ years. Decant before serving.
"Lovely sleek stuff. You could drink it now but I'm sure it will improve"
Jancis Robinson For the 2004 vintage
