Von Buhl Rieslings consistently receive over 90/100 points from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker. A leading German wine publication lists one of their wines amongst the Best 100 in the world, and their top releases sell for £150 a half bottle. From 2013-2018 the head winemaker was Matthieu Kauffmann – previously chief at the renowned House of Bollinger – and he clearly hit the ground running. Grosses Gewächs, or GG, is the equivalent to France's Grand Cru and this elegant, expressive, dry Riesling really shows its class. The grapes are all from Pechstein – an extinct volcano, with black basalt soils lending superb minerality. 2017 was a challenging vintage with a freezing winter and severe April frosts, but quality is 5-star all the way.
