More information
Founded in 1987 by restaurateur Gonzalo Anton, Izadi may be a young bodega compared to many in Rioja but it’s certainly up there with the best. Every aspect of this showpiece cellar, built into a steep hillside, is geared to producing the finest wines from top quality, old vine grapes. Wine magazine described them as having a “delicious, modern style”. Izadi’s winemaker, the brilliant Ruth Rodriguez, has helped the winery achieve greatness – Wine & Spirits magazine named it among the World’s Top 100 wineries. Aged for 16 months in French and US oak casks, the Reserva 2013 has excellent concentration thanks to 50 year old vines. Intense red fruit is infused with fragrant vanilla and mocha. Decant an hour in advance; serve with rack of lamb.
