Jaime Quendera captures the freshness of the sea in this pretty rosé. He harvests his grapes early in the season to make crisp wines that are full of flavour and naturally low in alcohol. His treasured Castelão grapes are deep coloured with intense berry flavours. They make strapping, full bodied reds inland, but here, next to the blustery Atlantic, put in a much more elegant performance. On these sandy soils they have to dig deep to find water – from three metres down they bring back nutrients that give the wines a unique minerality. For long lunches by the Atlantic coast, cooled by salty sea breezes, the Lisbon cognoscenti love this rosé and so do we! An ideal apéritif and perfect with salads, shellfish or delicate fish or chicken dishes.
