"A specialty of this estate. Moderately sweet, full-bodied, unctuous personality"
Review for 2006 vintage
Beaumes de Venise is a specialist appellation in the southern Rhône, and where this fresh and appetising sweet Muscat is produced. Vidal-Fleury Muscat Beaumes de Venise is one of the best, and this 2014 was awarded 92 points by Parker. The estate was established in 1787 in the northern Rhône, the family extending their vineyards into the southern Rhône during the 1920s. By this time the Vidal and Fleury families had been joined by marriage. Today the cellar is owned by the renowned Guigal family, and continues to enjoy an excellent reputation for all its wines. For the Beaumes de Venise, they use Muscat grapes and halt fermentation part way through to retain sweetness. The French love to keep a bottle chilled and serve it as an apéritif.
