Chat with Vinny
Seductive Givry from a family cellar and recently revived 1er Cru. Clos Jus was abandoned after phylloxera struck 130 years ago but pioneer Denis Valdenaire has coaxed it back to life. From "a seriously good vintage" this is an expressive 1er Cru.

Chofflet Valdenaire’s Clos Jus is a thrilling find from our fine wine team. It has a charming balance of ripe fruit, complexity and sweet spiced oak, all at a reasonable price. For now that is - they’ve been tipped as one of Givry’s leading cellars by Decanter magazine. That’s down to Denis Valdenaire’s painstaking approach in the vineyard and cellar. He has practised sustainable agriculture for over 20 years, and prunes severely to restrict yields, even in Clos Jus, where the vines naturally produce a tiny harvest. Grapes are gently pressed and aged for 14 months in casks of varying ages so oak is sweetly spiced, but not dominant. From a vintage great for quality, but miserly on yields, it's ideal with duck or wild mushroom risotto.
