Valoroso means ‘valiant’ – a word that could not only be applied to this delicious red, but also to the team behind it. The wine’s pedigree is most impressive – it comes from the Freitas family estate, near Lisbon. In 2008 they won ‘Best Red Wine in the World’ at the Vinalies Internationales in Paris. Furthermore, fourth generation owner Leonor Freitas has been awarded a ‘Comendadora’ Order of Merit for services to Portugal’s wine trade. Valoroso is a rare marriage of plush Cabernet Sauvignon, velvety local speciality Touriga Nacional and Syrah. The wine bursts with intense bramble fruits. It’s seriously smooth too, thanks to the expertise of internationally respected, award winning winemaker Jaime Quendera. Perfect with game dishes.
