As its name suggests, this is Farnese maestro Filippo Baccalaro’s ultimate creation. He skilfully blends top cuvées of ripe Montepulciano, cherry fresh Sangiovese, dark Primitivo and spicy Negroamaro for incredible, mouthfilling flavour.

Ultima Edizione is a special project from internationally renowned winemaker Filippo Baccalaro, who makes all our bestselling Farnese wines. Based in an ancient castle in Abruzzo, this superb cellar has been named Italy’s ‘Winery of the Year’ three times in a row. We have been working with Filippo for many years and for this wine we gave him free rein to produce the best red possible, regardless of region. He cherry picked tiny parcels of soft, ripe Montepulciano and Sangiovese from the Abruzzi, and dark Primitivo and spicy Negroamaro from sun baked vineyards in Puglia in the deep south. He barrel aged and blended the parts to produce this intensely flavoured red. Weighty and smooth, it’s best with pork, roasted or casseroled, and game.
