Merlot is loved worldwide for its winning combination of juicy plummy character and soft “more, please” mouthfeel. It’s famous for featuring in many of Bordeaux’s finest reds, but its ability to ripen in a range of different climates has seen many excellent Merlots emerging from producers around the world. This fine example hails from a top family cellar boasting an impressive five star rating from Aussie wine guru James Halliday. It’s crafted chiefly from premium grapes from the Eden Valley – a sub region of the Barossa and home to many of Australia’s best Merlots. Lively and full of fruit, this generous red has been gently oaked for complexity, and while being a fine partner for lamb or roasted vegetables, it’s smooth enough to sip solo.

"Soft and smooth, yet rich and complex, this Barossa beauty is a must-try Merlot – top year, too!" Dan Parrott
