Zinfandel is the signature grape of California. It's believed to have originated in Croatia (as Tribidrag), travelled to Puglia (under the guise of Primitivo) and then crossed the Atlantic with Italians emigrating to the US. It has lost nothing en route, if anything gaining even more gorgeous ripeness and flavour. Sunset Boulevard was inspired by the 1950s’ film classic of the same name. The wine takes on some of the same dark intrigue from the high quality of its well ripened fruit, all sourced from Lodi, self declared ‘home of Zin’. Aged for a year in French and American oak, the wine has a lovely toasty vanilla dimension. Pour a glass and enjoy its complexities alongside the subtleties of Gloria Swanson’s timeless performance.
