A fabulous, spicy fruit red combining native varieties with Syrah. Velvety, mouthfilling and long, it perfectly shows how modern Portuguese reds offer some of the best value in Europe. So handy, too, in this ‘help yourself to a glass’ format.
"Just as wonderful from a box as it is in a bottle. Full of fruit, completely mouthfilling"
Online Review For the 2016 vintage
Rich, velvety Stones & Bones is so-called because its grapes are grown in a landscape littered with ancient boulders and dinosaur fossils. In the modern Portuguese tradition, the wine is a blend of local and international grape varieties. Touriga Nacional, the backbone of vintage port, joins with Tinta Roriz, Syrah and Alicante to produce mammoth, rich fruit flavours. Winemaker is the hugely talented Diogo Sepúlveda, a man of many parts who counts bull wrestling among his interests! Having worked in Pomerol, then in the Barossa with heirloom Shiraz vines, he has all the credentials for making this rich, old vine Portuguese red. This is quality wine in a box – handy for enjoying a glass or two, while the rest stays fresh in the container.
