A white that shows Gewürztraminer's exotic, vibrant charms at their best. Ripe, rounded and fresh too, it's a rare grape in Spain. An exciting find from a cellar that specialises in ‘old treasure’ vineyards. A characterful, lightly spiced white.
If you like a white with lots of personality (think tasty spice and rounded exotic fruit), then reach for Gewürztraminer. It's best known as a grape that thrives in the cool vineyards of Alsace, but we were wowed by this fruit forward example from sunny Valencia. It comes from the excellent La Viña cellar, where Marta Martínez is winemaker. Our buyer dropped by and was offered a glass to revive her in the 40-degree heat. Boom! The rest, they say, is history. The wine has explosive flavours of marmalade, orange peel and lychee, with a truly zingy finish. As critic Will Lyons wrote "in mid summer, as the temperatures rise and dusk falls later, a glass of chilled Gewurz is exactly what the palate craves". Great solo or with spicy dishes.
"Lovely Gewürztraminer, full of fruitiness with a balanced acidity"
