Our Buyer Beth has a palate for a great wine, a nose for a bargain and an impressive Buying Award to underline her consummate knowledge of all wines Spanish. In Spain in particular she has developed close ties with family estates, some of which we've dealt with for years. This tasty parcel of 2009 needed to be sold off to make room in the cellar and guess who bagged it? Beth! Because the estate is highly regarded they couldn't be seen to have lowered their price, so we agreed not to mention the name. Suffice it to say, this is top of the range Rioja, aged for 36 months in oak barrels, and is now mellow as can be with ripe blueberry, liquorice and mocha character and a spicy vanilla finish. Serve with lamb casserole or the Sunday roast.
