Seifried Gewürztraminer 2021

Nelson

Don’t confine yourself to Sauvignon Blanc. New Zealand offers so much more, including this deliciously fresh, spicy and exotic, fruit-filled Gewürz. It’s from sun-blessed Nelson and the lovely Seifried family, among the first to plant vines there.

If you love the crisp cut and aromatics of Marlborough Sauvignon, yet want to branch out, try the delicious Seifried Gewürztraminer. The family estate lies in Nelson, next to Marlborough on the northern tip of South Island. It’s a region renowned for abundant sunshine and is very beautiful too, with snow-capped mountains, lakes, forests and beaches. The founders, Hermann and Agnes Seifried, planted their first vines in 1973, and 1976 saw their first harvest. The children are now involved – Chris and Heidi as winemakers and Anna heading up the marketing – and their wines win many prizes. Here they use spicy, lychee-scented Gewürz. This is a fresh style, off-dry with lots of juicy, exotic fruit – a winner on its own or with spicy dishes.
