This silky Cabernet has gathered many Golds over the vintages. It’s from Argentina’s most southerly wine producing region, remote Patagonia, which has ideal conditions for vines: light stony soils, clear sunlight and plentiful water, while biting winds result in small, thick skinned berries. Schroeder is one of the region’s most prominent estates, with 140 hectares of vineyard. The Schroeder family arrived in Argentina in the 1920s, emigrating from a Germany devastated by World War I. But it was not until 2001 that Hermann and Graciela Schroeder bought their property in Patagonia and began planting vines. Since then they’ve won many awards, including ‘Winery of the Year’. Supple, ripe and appealing, partner this Cabernet with grilled meats.
