Not content with praise for his wines from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, Paul Gordon turned to making gin too! Sarabande is a wonderful artisan product that speaks of the herb strewn garrigues of southern France and of grit and determination.
Tasting notes
A boldly flavoured gin exuding great charm
Aroma
Wild herbs, juniper, spicy pepper and lemon zest
Australian Paul Gordon and his Irish wife Isla moved to Faugères near Montpellier in the south of France in 2009 and bought a vineyard. As if producing a range of Sarabande wines were not challenge enough, they now make fabulous Sarabande Gin too. Part of its uniqueness is the base spirit, which is made from the grape skins left over after winemaking. And the all-important botanicals that give gin its distinctive aromas are sourced locally. They include wild juniper, mint, thyme and lemon zest. Sarabande Gin evokes a stroll in the hills of the French Mediterranean. Full and fruity with subtly sweet character, it has lovely aromas of herbs, black pepper, citrus and fennel. Enjoy with best quality tonic and a garnish of pink grapefruit peel.
