Santo Isidro is an exciting new release from Jaime Quendera, the highly awarded, Parker rated winemaker at the Pegões cellar in Península de Setúbal. He is a master at the super crisp whites and rich ripe reds, but this is a new wine he's very excited about. He's used the same method as Champagne, which means the sparkle comes from a secondary fermentation in bottle. This lends the wine a rich, creamy texture and a stream of tiny bubbles. The grapes are nothing to do with Champagne, however, but stars of Portugal. Fernão Pires and Moscatel are used to lend it a lovely fresh grapey and lightly spiced aroma.
