Buyer Beth Willard has done it again. Using her extensive network of contacts, she’s tracked down another stunning Spaniard for the Selección Especial series. These fine wine bargains have just one catch: we’re forbidden to name the wineries. And in this case, it’s a famous, family bodega whose wines are highly prized throughout the world. To clear cellar space, they passed on the final cases of this Gran Reserva in a one-off secret deal. Crafted in the legendary 2003 vintage, the fruit was sourced from the oldest, low yielding vines to ensure maximum concentration. After a long, slow fermentation, the wine was treated to three years in oak and eight years in bottle, prior to release. Perfect now, it’s the classic match for roast lamb.
