Chris Ringland was born in Auckland and, before he was out of his teens, was making wine from his neighbour's grapes. He roped in some of his mates to help at harvest time and has built from there! He worked as a cellarhand locally, then moved to Roseworthy, South Australia, to gain a degree. A 15-year stint at the renowned Rockford Wines in the Barossa followed, which has stood him in great stead with this luscious red, before a few years in Europe. He has an unquenchable thirst for learning. This mighty Shiraz uses grapes from the many microclimates of the Barossa and from growers he has worked with for a number of years. A gentle hand in the cellar ensures all its fruit is to the fore with a minimum of tannins. Bring on the barbie!
