RedHeads Le Bâtard Grenache Pinot Noir Rosé 2016

Barossa

Le Bâtard is a robust and fruity pink with an attractive bite from our RedHeads boutique wine studio. Made largely from Barossa Grenache with some pretty, floral scented Pinot Noir, it’s a moreish rosé with lovely intensity from old vine fruit.

As you’ll be able to tell from the colour of Le Bâtard, this is a full bodied rosé with plenty of fruit. It’s made largely from that southern Rhône variety Grenache, mainstay of Châteauneuf du Pape, but also known, particularly in Spain, for stand-out rosado. Grenache enjoys similar, hot, drought-like conditions in the Barossa, close to where our RedHeads studio winemaker Dan Graham handcrafts our wines. How convenient for Dan to keep a beady eye on progress throughout the year. In 2016 he selected fruit from impressive 60 year old vines for added power, then added a portion of cooler climate Pinot Noir to lend pretty floral notes and freshness. Chill down and enjoy solo. It’s also very versatile with food – try chicken, risotto or kebabs.

"Last vintage, this wine scored 92 Halliday points. We think the 2016 version is even better" Dan Graham
