With seductive charm, the bright elegance and opulent fruit of the Blue Belle is hard to resist. All grapes are from Tim Bartsch’s impressive small vineyard, recently grafted over to the Chardonnay Bernard clone – Bernard’s great for giving real ‘Chardonnay-ness’ with added freshness from the cooler, higher altitude zone of the Adelaide Hills. Low yield grapes are harvested in cooler night-time temperatures then immediately pressed in the RedHeads cellar to capture maximum fruity crispness. Fermentation in oak, some in new Hungarian barrels, has lent subtle hints of cinnamon, cloves and vanilla, while lees stirring adds lovely roundness – a perfect balance. This bluey – flame haired – beauty is a hit with chicken, salmon or spicy dishes.
