Shottesbrooke’s journey began in 1981, when founder Nick Holmes planted his first vineyard, outside Myponga, south of Adelaide. From this start, Nick went on to acquire the property in nearby McLaren Flat where he established the Shottesbrooke estate – winery and vineyards. His stepson Hamish Maguire is now in charge and keen to communicate his passion for winemaking to customers. Their Discovery series matches grape to its finest region, and for Shiraz in 2014 that was Langhorne Creek. The fruit was sourced from a well established grower so Hamish knew quality would be superb. And this wine is indeed on top form. Chocka with ripe raspberry, cherry and plum, with hints of sweet anise and mocha, it calls out for a barbie or a rich casserole.

"Five years old, but still jubilant and youthful fruit with lovely richness and complexity" Dan Parrott
