Founded in 1830, Joseph Drouhin has been a byword for top quality Burgundy for nearly two centuries. Neal Martin at Wine Advocate wrote “Drouhin continues to demonstrate what a class act they have become.” Run today by the founder’s four grandchildren, Maison Joseph Drouhin has a magnificent portfolio of vineyards extending southward from Chablis to Mâconnais and Beaujolais. They are firm believers in organic and biodynamic viticulture, and show meticulous attention to detail throughout their range. Gamay is the star of this red that displays, unsurprisingly, truly Burgundian richness and complexity. 2016 was a very good vintage and this wine has lovely intensity of silky fruit with floral aromas. A treat solo or with chicken or cold meats.
