Vougeraie is the superb Boisset family estate. In 1961 Jean-Claude Boisset purchased Gevrey’s Les Evocelles, and since then they’ve added vineyards across 36 appellations, covering 42 hectares of premium land. They brought the vineyards together in one estate in 1999 to make Domaine de la Vougeraie. Large for Burgundy but there’s no compromise in quality. Every plot is managed organically and biodynamically for a purer expression of the vines’ terroir. Les Petits Noizons is a 30+ year old vineyard, ideally situated at the top of a south facing slope on pebbly soil. The grapes reach excellent ripeness and produce this intensely flavoured, firmly structured wine. Ageing in 40% new French oak for 16 months lends a spice edge to this fine red.
